The new spaces were shaped by award-winning Byron Bay creatives, architects Tanev Muir and Studio Plenty, the same team behind Light Years in town. Studio Plenty recently took out the Award for Emerging Interior Design Practice at the Australian Interior Design Awards, and that feel for nuanced, natural-material interiors runs through every corner.

It builds on the vision of our original designer and co-owner Taliah Lowry, who paired Byron's laidback feel with the industrial cool of New York's Bowery. The result is The Bower's signature monochromatic palette: rich textural blacks across oak grain, silky lacquered surfaces, and softer accents of linen and velvet that give each room its depth.

Craft, wellness and the finishing touches
What gives The Bower its soul is how much of it is made by hand, and made nearby. The two-year transformation that was completed in August 2025 leaned on a community of Byron artisans: hand-crafted furniture by local artist Alexis Williams, joinery by Morgan, and those underwater artworks by photographer Francesca Owens. Nothing here is off-the-shelf, which is why the whole place feels considered rather than styled. There is a striking new reception to greet you, and an on-site day spa with treatments for guests only, using certified organic products from Mukti Organics made just up the road.
