Where did you and your bridal party get ready?
Adam and I had previously stayed at The Bower and when we chose Byron Bay as our wedding destination, I instantly knew it was where I wanted myself and my bridesmaids to get ready! When we checked in the girls and I drank cocktails by the magnesium pool and relaxed in the sunshine. The Cottage was indulgent yet homely, with lush tropical gardens and beautifully soft and sophisticated interior – it was honestly the perfect location to relax before the big day.
I slept like a baby the night before the wedding – it was heaven. I woke to birds singing, my girlfriends laughing and of course, a glass of bubbles! The sun rays beamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounge room making it the perfect space for a spot of pre-wedding pampering. There was an abundance of natural light and plenty of room for our hair and make-up team to set up.
Mia Connor (makeup artist) and Clare Moriarty (hair stylist) from The Future Mrs. were my ultimate dream team. I booked them both super early on! I wanted a lived-in low bun, to look like something I could have created myself . And my bridesmaids to have a soft ponytail with beach waves.
Adam and I returned here after the wedding, the private cedar mineral spa at The Cottage was the ultimate relaxation spot. Sitting outside, among nature and spreading palm trees was superb. The photos and memories from my wedding morning will forever be treasured.
Okay, tell us about the dress? We’re obsessed with the back!
Inspired by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, I was looking for something classic and elegant. When I tried on the silk Bella gown by Katherine Tash, I said to my mum and sister ‘this is the one!’ The fabric was so luxurious it felt like it was melting through my fingertips.
Haha thank you, I was looking for a dress that made my exit as good as my entrance!
And the florals?
For the ceremony we wanted a relaxed, coastal feel with soft creams and whites with a hint of greenery. Then for the reception, we adjusted the brief slightly to modern and elegant floral clouds on the tables. Estelle from ‘The French Petal’ nailed the Brief!
I held a bouquet of orchids to honor my grandmother who sadly couldn’t make it to Byron for our wedding. But while she wasn’t able to be there in person, I felt as though she was right beside me all day. It was Incredibly special.
I opted for minimal accessories. A gold bangle from my family and Paspaley pearl earrings which were my ‘something borrowed’ from a dear friend.
Where did you host the ceremony and reception?
We had both the ceremony and reception at Beach Byron Bay. Perched oceanfront, this was the perfect venue for us as the large deck area overlooks Clarke’s beach where Adam proposed in November 2021!
We wanted a Hampton’s minimalist style fusing understated elegance with a timeless and bold simplicity. The contemporary white-filled space at The Beach restaurant, delivered a modern, yet relaxed beach house aesthetic. The spectacular blue ocean views were the statement, allowing us to have a ‘less is more’ approach.
As Adam and I did all the planning and styling ourselves we were fortunate that Belinda and Sara from the venue provided on-the-day wedding coordination. Their expertise was outstanding and they executed our vision 10 times better than we ever imagined!
Last question! Who captured the day? They say memories will last you a life time but it’s so special to have these moments captured on film!
Lucie Blake Photography was our incredible photographer. She creates dreamy frames with layers of expression, steeped in poetic beauty. Alongside her was the talented Eddie, our videographer, from Ripple Weddings. When we were looking at creatives to shoot our wedding, both Lucy and Eddie’s work stood out to us. I soon put two and two together and realised they were husband and wife! They worked effortlessly together and made our entire day fun and relaxed. It was truly an honor to have them capture our wedding, we now have Breathtaking memories to reminisce on.
