Eat & Drink
While we’re all for embracing Byron’s go-with-the-flow lifestyle, when it comes to peak silly season we advise booking your table reservations in advance. Dining experiences make up a huge part of holidays and as much as there are some great take-away options around town it would be a shame to miss out on our fantastic local restaurants.
Left it a little late? Do a bit of research for the restaurants you’d like to dine at and add yourself to the waitlist, or opt for a 5pm stroll around town and see if the hosts are able to squeeze you in.
Finally, please be patient with our hospitality friends, the staff struggle in Byron is very real at the moment.

It’s a simple equation really: more people, more traffic! Byron Bay plays host to well over 2 million tourists a year with the majority of these joining us during the summer. The simplest way to avoid Byron’s notorious car park hunt (particularly bad on a busy beach day) and slow crawl into town is to opt for bikes.
We have a fleet of complimentary Lekker bikes on hand to get you from A to B. Grab yours from reception.
Nothing ruins a holiday like sunburn. The softest sheets turn into sandpaper, you look like a boiled lobster in all your photos and perhaps the worst part is you’re unlikely to want to head out in the sun again the next day.
Trust us, you’ll still get some colour through sunscreen! We stock Salt & Stone mineral sunscreen in our shop.
There’s so much more to the Northern Rivers than Byron Bay! Our top picks are Bangalow, Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby and Cabarita Beach. Each town has its own unique offerings, colourful locals and the journey out there is always a scenic one.
Ask at reception for our recommendations on what to see, eat and do!
Some people are better at this than others, and while we’re all for a holiday agenda even the most organised holiday makers should aim to set aside some time to just be. Holidays aren’t just an adventure they’re a necessary decompression period to help you rest the body and clear the mind.
Lose yourself in a novel with a visit to The Book Room at Byron.
Whatever you do, don’t pack in a hurry! You can avoid forgotten items by making a list in advance (this also helps to build the holiday excitement). The good news is, almost anything you forget can be purchased in town, but it’s nice (and less wasteful) to not have to purchase the same thing twice!
To read more about packing mindfully read our blog on What to Pack for a Summer Escape.
If you love our pristine beaches, glorious rainforests and abundance of wildlife, as much as we do, please do your bit to keep Byron beautiful. There are certain things that can sometimes be overlooked on holidays but remember this is not only our home, it’s also the home of wallabies, bush turkeys, dolphins and too many bird varieties to name.
